Bricks Fix ELEVEN

Its all about design (Part 2)...

A quick second post showing you a few more of my favourite images from my visit to the focus show at the chelsea design centre!

Remains Lighting

An exceptional range of different lighting and mirrors but for me it was the globe designs that really had me excited. With their antique look mixed with a slight modern twist, "the pendant references a form of historical factory lighting where the glass was netted for safety".  I love the different styles and sizes! I imagine them taking the central space in a living/dining area, creating a warm glow through the netted glass...

Loving the delicate antique inspired brass designs!

Interior Supply

This is a company which showcases the best of European design but it was the Kenzo Maison and Fendi display that caught my attention the most with their floral patterns...especially the japanese style fabric stool.

Wired Custom Lighting

Make a statement in your space with a lighting design you are proud.

Original BTC

Detail, quality and an important use of materials are all key to the production of Original BTC's lighting designs. Inspiration is drawn from all areas but a relaxed and a functional light is the overall style, making sure that their designs will fit perfectly in any setting!

A quirky collection of art deco tea cups and pots lighting pendants, make it fun!

Davey lighting was originally part of Davey and co when established in London in 1885 and now supples marine, industrial and decorative lighting. I just love love LOVE all the styles!!

Armani/Casa

The most dramatic showroom of the day due to completely representing the Armani brand, creating a distinctive atmosphere of seamless elegance. The walls are lined in polycarbonate which are softly illuminated to create several divisions for the living, dining and bedroom spaces. "...providing a platform for Giorgio Armani to set out his vision of the living space: an intimate and very special place, at one and the same time both comfortable and  sophisticated." Furniture, tablewear, textiles, lighting, decorative objects even gifts, were all on display in the showroom, helping the viewer to understand what it feels to be

It's all about design...(Part 1)

Design centre chelsea harbour is the heart for decoration and design, with all the big names in fabric, wallpaper
and the very best of furniture. A magnet for interior designers and great for its resources - whether hunting for
current trends, sourcing for new products, browsing through the many swatch books or just visiting for inspiration,
you are almost certain to come away excited for that new project!

Porto Romano
Porto Romano was the first showrooms I visited & was one my favourites of the day! Their collection of furniture
and lighting is so distinctive for its quality, elegance and style. Their attention to detail, materials, shape and form
is so challenging. See for yourselves...

Ice cubes, crystals, perfume bottles, jelly moulds, giraffes and pears are just some of the unique inspirations used for the various styles of table lamps, all ranging from different materials from glass - ceramic - brass...

WOW! Now these are wall lights to talk about - each one is individually its own piece of art, a piece of sculpture... so beautifully made! The mood that the lights created in the showroom was so soft, the lined silk lampshades creating a warm glow making all the difference to the atmosphere of the space. A great lighting plan is going to improve the appearance of your living such as the mood, colours and furniture in the space so its important to get it right. Each light is so unique in its style and use of materials, let this post encourage you to experiment with a different ambience, look at different ways to add lighting to your space and to start using wall lights as an idea for wall art and not just a lamp holder.

The furniture is just as exciting as the lighting

Romo

Romo had created a striking window display to show off one of their new collections "Fougere" which is a vibrant collection of prints and contemporary wall coverings inspired by the Royal Botanical Gardens of Europe, "where architectural structures are seen juxtaposed with exotic florals in a mix of tropical colour and cool, citrus shades".

Oversized florals meet with abstract geometric shapes - using the same colour palatte to keep both the patterns in sync with one another.

Check for yourself the beautiful use of radiant colours, draw inspiration from the images above and notice how well all the colours complement one another by working together, colour stimulates the senses. Floral prints are guaranteed to add life and joy to any space and are not as daunting as you may think. Remember that the scale of the print effects the mood - what do you want to create? modern? vintage? electric? calm? romantic? Try balance a strong floral print with plain surfaces, you can add splashes of colour through your accessories, bringing together the whole scheme.

Normally I am a big fan of mix match frames and images but I'm really drawn to white walls with black frames & matching black photographs and the great impact they have on a space. Although this is a post about the monochrome look, i do love the two images below and couldn't resist uploading them, it goes to show that you can frame "anything" whatever the style/size - whether you have found a nice fabric sample, wallpaper, a magazine cut out or a drawing, you really can have fun with this so start collecting and let your personality come out through your walls!

Apartment Therapy - Bethany Nauert

So it was after taking a trip to John Lewis today that I have completely fallen for "Gettyimages Gallery" collection of black and white photographs framed in a smart black frame...I'm especially obsessed with portraits of people, take a look at the some of the famous faces below... i want them all.

Create a display which is going to show off your fab photographs best - try using different sized frames but keep to the same thickness. Experiment with different layouts, depending on how many photographs you have, you may just want to create a small collage or if you have the space why not fill the whole wall, creating a photographic journey/gallery for your visitors.

You don't just have to use famous people but mix them up and use your very own photo's of family and friends!

Go go go create your story!

Marks&Spencer

i love it

After a wander today, I though id just show you my wish list, walked out with complete kitchen envy! I also got the chance to pick up a catalogue, again, styling job envy. I couldn't possibly post all even though I was tempted.

Crazy about colored glass at the moment and Marks have managed to fill the shelves with beautiful collections including vintage inspirations and block colours for their glass ware. Walking past the furniture section quickly as the Conran collaboration really left an ache, I just wanted to sit comfortably and people watch all day.

Marks and Spencer have their home week, 3rd-9th October a bonus 20% off home ware and 30% of selected furniture!

The opaque glass tumbler jug and the vintage inspired jug both made me smile, for some reason the tumbler reminded me of a milk mustache, am sure that wasnt the intention though! You need to go visit in store to see them all lined up.

Beautiful colours that stood out against their glass neighbours.

Colourful cooking! The kitchen is the heart of home as they say, where friends and family gather, perfect opportunity to show off some colour and style. Marks have beautiful dinning ware, the floral jug is from the Elizabeth range, perfect name for a very pretty range with must see dining plates. Its hard to commit to just one range, I say get a piece from all, love a miss match kitchen. Above the china you will find two tone cooking and serving dishes, check out the heart shaped casserole (Le Creuset). Beautiful.

Conran collaboration

Teals, mustards, plums, greens and greys, grown up colours that make a room fun, young and stylish. Featured in oxford streets window display, this is what pulled me in. As soon as I reached the top of the escalator I met the Marlowe armchair in plum, I love her, she comes in 14 other colours too including ocher and teal. Have a look for yourself online at www.marksandspencer.com.
